The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is an expedited study permit application stream launched by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in June 2018 for international students from certain countries who want to pursue higher education in Canada. Most SDS applications are processed within 20 days.
Students can submit their SDS application only online and must fulfill specific requirements set up by IRCC, as mentioned below:
Passport:
To apply for a student visa in Canada, the student must have a valid passport.
Tuition Fee:
The students have to submit the full payment of the tuition fee for the first year of the program.
Letter of Acceptance:
You must have an acceptance letter from the Designated Learning Institute (DLI) where you have applied for your further study. The designated learning institutes are colleges/universities that have permission from Canadian government to enrol international students.
Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC):
The students must deposit an amount of $10000 (CAD) or more as a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC). The money deposited helps ensure that the student is secured in Canada and has additional sources to fund possible expenses.

Police certificate
A copy of the police certificate (if required)

In case, students are not able to meet the above mentioned conditions, they can always opt for regular student permit application process.
Other than the proof of acceptance and identity documents, students do need to provide evidence of financial support for themselves and any family members who may travel with them to Canada. For language test, students can provide PTE or TOEFL as well other than IELTS. A letter of explanation is also required explaining why students are choosing Canada to study and their understanding of responsibilities as a student.
